Job summary

HoneyCoin, a cross-border fintech company, is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead day-to-day accounting, month-end close, and reconciliations across markets. You will validate revenue, manage bank and wallet reconciliations, and prepare audit-ready schedules to support scaling.

Reporting to the Finance Team, you will collaborate with Treasury, Operations, Product, Compliance, and Commercial teams to enhance financial processes and support new market launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
• 4+ years progressive accounting experience, ideally fintech/payments or related sectors.
• Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets; ERP/accounting systems experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting & Close: Prepare IFRS-compliant P&L, Balance Sheet, journal entries, and period-end schedules.
• Reconciliations & Treasury: Own end-to-end reconciliations for bank accounts, digital wallets, providers, and merchant settlements.
• Balance Sheet Management: Reconcile and maintain audit-ready schedules for assets, liabilities, and equity.
• Revenue, Fees & Cost Validation: Validate revenues, fees, FX margins, and provider costs with GL records.
• AP & AR Management: Handle supplier invoices, payment schedules, collections, and ageing reports with controls.
• GL & Audit Preparation: Maintain General Ledger accuracy and prepare schedules for audits.
• Process Improvement: Drive workflow automation and ERP enhancements.
• Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit statutory tax schedules for multi-market operations.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner across Treasury, Operations, Product, Compliance, and Commercial.

Reporting within the Finance team, the Senior Accountant manages day-to-day accounting operations, drives month-end close preparation, owns bank and wallet reconciliations, validates revenue, and prepares audit-ready financial schedules to support scaling across multiple markets.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting & Close: Prepare IFRS-compliant P&L statements (revenue, cost of sales, FX margins, OPEX), Balance Sheet, journal entries, and period-end schedules.
• Reconciliations & Treasury: Own end-to-end reconciliations for bank accounts, digital wallets, payment providers, and merchant settlements, maintaining proper treasury documentation and audit trails.
• Balance Sheet Management: Reconcile and maintain audit-ready schedules for all asset, liability, and equity accounts across the Balance Sheet for management review.
• Revenue, Fees & Cost Validation: Validate all revenues, transaction fees, FX margins, and provider/partner costs by matching operational transaction logs with General Ledger records.
• AP & AR Management: Handle supplier invoices, payment schedules, collections, and ageing reports under internal controls, maintaining complete AR documentation and audit trails.
• GL & Audit Preparation: Maintain General Ledger accuracy, prepare journal entries for review and approval, and build schedules for internal/external audits.
• Process Improvement: Drive workflow automation, standardize reconciliation templates, and support ERP enhancements.
• Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit statutory tax schedules to ensure regulatory compliance across all operating markets.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Treasury, Operations, Product, Compliance, and Commercial teams to resolve accounting issues, improve financial processes, and support new products and market launches.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Certification: CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Experience: 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in fintech,Telcoms, banking, or payments.
• Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; ERP/accounting systems such as Xero, NetSuite is an added advantage.
• Domain Expertise: Familiarity with high-volume, multi-currency, and multi-entity environments.
