Job summary

Alkermes, a global biopharmaceutical company with a Massachusetts presence, offers a hybrid work schedule requiring 3 days in the office and 2 from home. The role supports monthly close, intercompany accounting, and SOX/SEC compliance with a base salary in the mid-to-high six figures when combined with bonus.

We seek an experienced accountant with SAP-S/4HANA familiarity, GAAP mastery, and strong analytical skills to manage intercompany activity and assist external audits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • At least 5 years in an accounting environment, preferably with a publicly traded corporation.
  • Experience with SAP-S4 HANA would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process monthly general ledger journal entries (fixed assets, intercompany settlements, prepaid expenses, accruals).
  • Participate in month-end closing procedures and reconciliations of assets, liabilities, equity and expenses.
  • Analyze monthly expenses and perform reclassifications as needed.
  • Reconcile intercompany receivable and payable accounts monthly.
  • Assist with external audit inquiries and SOX/SEC compliance.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and process monthly general ledger journal entries; including, but not limited to fixed assets, intercompany settlements, prepaid expenses, month-end accruals, and other miscellaneous entries.
  • Participate in the month-end closing procedures; including the reconciliation of asset, liability, equity and expense accounts
  • Responsible for monthly expense account analysis, including review of monthly expense activity and making the necessary reclassification journal entries
  • Participate in the reconciliation of monthly intercompany expenses
  • Reconcile intercompany receivable & payable accounts on a monthly basis
  • Responsible for fulfilling external audit inquiries
  • Maintain compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and SEC pronouncements
  • Support Financial Planning & Analysis with the review and posting of monthly accruals
  • Perform special projects as needed
Qualifications / Skills/Abilities Needed
  • Must have a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Extensive accounting knowledge and familiarity with month-end closing demands within a publicly traded firm
  • Proficient in MS Excel & Word
  • The ideal candidate will have experience working within SAP FI Financials Software
  • Ability to prioritize workload within the bounds of deadlines

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Minimum education is a Bachelor degree in Accounting
  • Minimum experience should be 5 years in an accounting environment, preferably with a publicly traded corporation
  • Experience with SAP-S4 HANA would be a plus
Office/Remote Work Requirements

Alkermes has a hybrid work environment which requires 3 days a week in office. Additional attendance for training/special projects/meetings as needed.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $88,000 to $105,000. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual performance pay bonus. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, training, knowledge, and experience. Alkermes offers a competitive benefits package. Alkermes has recently adopted a hybrid working environment to support and meet the needs of employees and this role will operate in a flexible environment with 60% of time in the office and 40% from home. This position is eligible for the hybrid workplace model, requiring work to be completed onsite at our Waltham, MA office at least 3 days per week. This role is not eligible for fully remote work.
