Job summary

Velsera, headquartered in Boston, MA, is seeking a Senior Accountant to strengthen our monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and GAAP reporting. This role focuses on accuracy, timeliness, and process automation within our ERP environment.

You will own journal entries, reconciliations, intercompany activity, fixed assets, and audit support, while helping drive improvements across the finance function in a fast-growing software company.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive general accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and month-end close best practices
• Hands-on experience with cloud ERP systems such as NetSuite (preferred) or Sage Intacct
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and large data sets

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process with timely and accurate reporting
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, amortization, and intercompany activity
• Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and schedules
• Maintain documentation for accounting entries and balance sheet accounts
• Prepare reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Review AP coding for accurate GL classification and cost center allocation
• Manage fixed asset ledger including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals
• Support revenue and deferred revenue accounting and audits
• Maintain accounting policies and drive process improvements and automation

The Senior Accountant positionis responsible fordriving operational efficiency in financial reporting and compliance using best practices and automation with ERP/enterprise accounting tool

What will you do?

• Own and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuringtimelyandaccuratereporting
• Prepare and review journal entries, including accruals, amortization,equity-relatedentries, and intercompany activity
• PrepareGAAP-compliantfinancial statements and supporting schedules
• Maintain complete documentation and support for all accounting entries and balance sheet accounts
• Prepare, review, andmaintainbalance sheet reconciliations,identifyingand resolving discrepancies
• Review and approve accounts payable expense coding to ensureaccurateGL classification, cost center allocation, andtimelymonth-endclose
• Manage andmaintainthe fixed asset ledger, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals
• Reconcile intercompany transactions and ensure proper eliminations
• Support revenue and deferred revenue accounting, including collaboration with billing and revenue systems (as applicable)
• Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with GAAP and company growth
• Assistwith external audits, internal audits, and regulatory or compliance requests
• Drive andparticipatein process improvement initiatives, including system optimization and automation
• Prepare and circulate internal management reports
• Respond to and resolve routine accounting inquiries from internal stakeholders
• Exercise a high degree of integrity, judgment, and confidentiality in all financial reporting
• Perform other duties as needed to support the Finance organization and scaling business needs

Whatdoyou bring to the table?

• Minimum 5 years of progressive general accounting experience, preferably in a software, SaaS, ortechnology-enabledenvironment
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP andmonth-endclose best practices
• Hands-onexperience withcloud-basedERP systems such as NetSuite (preferred), Sage Intacct, or similar
• Advancedproficiencywith Microsoft Excel and comfort working with large data sets
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting concepts tonon-financepartners
• Highly organized,detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment
• Proactive, adaptable, and open to change and continuous learning
