Job summary

Role Description

The Senior Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Bethesda, MD, responsible for managing and overseeing day-to-day accounting operations. This role typically includes preparing and reviewing journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, reconciling accounts, and ensuring timely month-end and year-end close processes. The Senior Accountant will support financial reporting, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and help maintain compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The role also involves collaborating with operations and leadership teams to analyze financial performance, improve internal controls, and support audits and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong general ledger accounting skills, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
• Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis, including preparation of financial statements and support for budgeting and forecasting.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and internal controls, with experience supporting audits and compliance-related activities.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with accounting or ERP software.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across departments and explain financial information to non-finance team members.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
• Interest in sports or recreation industries and alignment with the company’s mission to grow and support community-based ice sports is advantageous.
