Senior Accountant – Hybrid in Baltimore, MD
About the Company and Overview of the Senior Accountant Role:
- CFS is partnering with a well-established healthcare-focused nonprofit organization to identify a Senior Accountant for its growing accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys balancing day-to-day accounting operations with month-end close, financial reporting, and audit support.
- With year-end activities underway, the team is seeking a Senior Accountant who can step in and contribute immediately, particularly someone with strong audit experience and a solid understanding of nonprofit or healthcare accounting environments.
Job Duties of the Senior Accountant:
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Assist with accounts payable activities and other day-to-day accounting operations
- Prepare and analyze revenue, expense, and budget reports to ensure financial accuracy and transparency
- Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts and investigate variances
- Participate heavily in year-end audit preparation and serve as a key point of contact during audit engagements
- Assist with budget development, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Prepare invoices, schedules, and supporting documentation for internal and external reporting needs
- Monitor financial activity and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
- Maintain accurate general ledger records and support strong internal controls
- Collaborate with leadership on financial analysis, reporting, and special projects
Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 3+ years of relevant accounting experience required
- Strong audit background and year end experience preferred
- Healthcare and/or non profit accounting experience highly desired
- Experience using Oracle NetSuite a plus
- Intermediate Excel experience required
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen and be comfortable with submitting to medical screening or providing vaccination records
Schedule: This position offers a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office in Baltimore City and 2 days remote after training. During the first 30 days, candidates should expect to work onsite while getting up to speed.
Salary: $90,000-$100,000
