Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. is seeking an experienced accounting professional to support the month-end close, perform journal entries, and analyze financial data for management review. This on-site role involves collaboration with site finance teams and process improvement.

The position requires strong accounting knowledge and proactive problem-solving. The candidate will handle reconciliation tasks, system queries, and special projects, with additional duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required with six years of accounting experience including two years in related training or on-the-job instruction.
• Associate's degree plus four years of accounting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree plus two years of accounting experience.
• Master’s degree in accounting or finance is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned duties as part of the accounting close process, including journal entries and collaboration with site finance groups.
• Analyze financial and operational data and communicate results to management and site finance personnel.
• Perform analysis and reconciliation through system queries and investigation of reconciling items.
• Review month-end close processes and propose practical efficiency improvements.
• Perform other accounting and special projects as assigned.
• Perform other duties as required.

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

What You Will Do

• Complete assigned duties as part of the accounting close process. Apply knowledge of accounting policies and procedures to tasks which include recording journal entries, collaborating with site finance groups and research and analysis among other duties.
• Analyze financial and operational data and communicate results timely and effectively to management and site finance personnel.
• Perform analysis and reconciliation through system queries, research, investigation of reconciling items and resolution.
• Review processes for improvements as changes occur or new requirements are added to the month-end close process. Use knowledge gained in making recommendations that are practical and which gain efficiencies.
• Perform other accounting and special projects as assigned.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• High School diploma or GED and six (6) years professional experience in accounting, including two (2) years in prolong intellectual instruction (certifications, instructed training, OR on the job training, etc..) in Accounting or Finance; OR
• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related area and four (4) years professional experience in accounting; OR
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area and two (2) years of accounting experience; OR
• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area

Preferred Qualifications

• What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$65,000-$90,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
