Job summary

StevenDouglas in Atlanta, GA seeks an experienced accounting professional to manage financial statements and close processes for multiple entities. You will ensure GAAP compliance, oversee GL activity, support audits, and collaborate with asset management teams to improve data accuracy and reporting.

The role involves complex real estate fund or joint venture accounting and coordination with external advisers. Local candidates with similar experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Manage general ledger activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes.
• Oversee accounting for property-level transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, capital expenditures, and lease accounting (ASC 842).

Responsibilities

• Analyze and report on operating expenses, CAM reconciliations, and property-level budgets vs. actuals.
• Assist with the preparation of consolidated financial statements across multiple entities/properties.
• Support the annual audit process by preparing schedules and liaising with external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with debt covenants and assist with lender reporting requirements.
• Review and approve accounts payable/receivable transactions as needed.
• Partner with property management and asset management teams to ensure accurate financial data flow.
• Assist in the preparation of tax filings and coordination with external tax advisors.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff.
