Job summary

May Mobility in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a Senior Accountant to strengthen our Finance team. You will build processes, maximize ERP use, and work cross-functionally under the Accounting Manager.

You will support month-end close, vendor invoicing, and inventory/BOM tracking for vehicle builds, while ensuring US GAAP compliance and solid internal controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • 4+ years working in corporate finance or public accounting.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP.
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences with documentation.
  • Research unique transactions and determine proper accounting treatment.
  • Manage month-end close accruals and journal entries.
  • Coordinate monthly invoicing with vendors and onboarding of new vendors.
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and engineering for inventory and BOM tracking.
  • Assist with financial statements, audits, and footnote disclosures.
  • Explain ASC 606 considerations and document conclusions for management.

Job Summary

May Mobility is entering an exciting phase of growth and our team is expanding quickly. We are looking for a Senior Accountant to add to our Finance team. We are looking for a candidate that can build new processes, maximize the use of our ERP system, and work cross-functionally. This role reports to the Accounting Manager.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences through proper documentation to ensure integrity of accounting information
  • Research unique transactions and demonstrate the ability to independently determine proper accounting treatment and considerations
  • Prepare and manage month end close accruals, adjusting journal entries, and account reconciliations and ability to present the results to management
  • Partner directly with vendors as part of monthly invoicing coordination and onboarding of new vendors as needed
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes to provide cross-functional support to those functions.
  • Collaborate and plan with supply chain and engineering teams to ensure proper inventory and bill of materials tracking for vehicle builds
  • Assist the Accounting team with financial statement preparation and audits, including preparation of footnote disclosures, related support and tie out support
  • Demonstrate an understanding of accounting standards (specifically ASC 606) to come to an accounting treatment and ability to document and present such conclusions to the Accounting Manager
  • Demonstrate an independent understanding of Company’s expense policies and ability to manage and coordinate with employees to uphold compliance and reporting
  • Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance
  • Support new system implementations and internal controls documentation as needed
  • Provide analytical, forecasting, reporting, and project support to the Accounting Manager and other Finance team members
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates most successful in this role typically hold the following qualifications or comparable knowledge or experience:

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
  • 4+ years working in corporate finance or public accounting
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical and data mining skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to diplomatically approach team members to discuss sensitive financial matters
  • Ability to use professional judgment to elevate matters when necessary
  • Flexibility and ability to display sound judgment while operating in a fast-paced environment
Desirable
  • MBA or Master of Accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • NetSuite experience
  • Inventory and Fixed Asset experience
  • Experience using Google Suite
