Job description

The Senior Accountant oversees general accounting operations across the company's multiple corporate-owned entities and physical retail and wholesale locations, with responsibility spanning the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, inventory accounting, monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations, and the full financial close cycle. This role leads a small accounting team and supports a fast-growing, family-owned retail tire and automotive service organization that has proudly served local communities for more than 50 years.

With a growing network of corporate-owned locations across California and a strategic plan to aggressively expand over the coming years, the Senior Accountant plays a key role in building scalable accounting processes, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting as the company grows. This is a truly unique opportunity to help drive meaningful and game-changing transformation for an organization which is constantly ratcheting up its growth trajectory both organically and through strategic acquisitions. This key transformation across the finance and accounting functions will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Company can continue scaling in both a sustainable and efficient manner for the exciting years to come.

Reporting directly to the Controller and CFO, the Senior Accountant acts as a key partner to leadership — managing the day-to-day accounting function, reviewing and approving the work of accounting staff, and ensuring financial data is accurate, timely, and aligned with company policy across multiple entities. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with proven leadership ability, and has experience operating in multi-entity or multi-location environments.

  • Serve as a key point of contact for the Controller and CFO on accounting operations and financial reporting
  • Identify inefficiencies and lead process improvement and systems initiatives across the accounting function

  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and general ledger accounts monthly and resolve complex discrepancies
  • Prepare and review financial reporting packages and support audit requests
  • Partner with operational leadership across departments to research and resolve accounting issues
  • Oversee inventory accounting, including cost of goods sold, reconciliations, and physical count processes
  • Investigate and resolve inventory variances and shrinkage trends across locations
Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight
  • Oversee end-to-end accounts payable, including invoice processing, approvals, and weekly check runs
  • Oversee full-cycle accounts receivable, including invoicing, payment posting, and collections
