Job summary

Davies North America in Williston, VT seeks a Senior Account Executive to manage a complex portfolio of captive clients, mentor staff, and present financial statements at board meetings. You will ensure regulatory compliance and lead actuarial and audit coordination while upholding ISMS standards.

The role requires a CPA or CPA candidate, 5–10 years in accounting, and strong GAAP/insurance knowledge. Location is Williston, VT with employer-provided benefits and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or relevant equivalent experience.
• CPA or CPA candidate.
• 5–10 years of general accounting knowledge.
• 5 years statutory or alternative market insurance account experience.
• Up-to-date knowledge of GAAP and insurance accounting principles.
• Accounting research capability.
• Advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and QuickBooks.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality client service for a portfolio of captive clients.
• Adhere to regulatory, company and client timelines and deadlines.
• Follow guidelines and procedures to ensure compliance and internal controls.
• Supervise, train, and mentor staff accountants.
• Prepare periodic financial statement packages and self-review.
• Prepare quarterly and annual NAIC statements.
• Prepare written analysis of financial statements.
• Plan and coordinate annual audits and actuarial reviews.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting, insurance, and regulatory issues affecting captives.

Description This position is responsible for the day to day management of an increasingly complex portfolio of captive insurance clients, including risk retention groups, insurance reciprocal exchanges and/or other complex structures, the number of which varies depending on complexity of the accounts, as well as serving as a mentor and resource to Staff Accountants. The Senior Account Executive will demonstrate ability to work independently, present financial statements at board meetings, serve as a mentor and resource to staff, as well as ability to train and lead. Assist company by adhering to and maintaining standards in accordance with ISMS policy and procedure.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the delivery of high-quality service, ensuring that all client service standards are met for portfolio of captive clients
• Responsible for adherence to established regulatory, company and client timelines and deadlines
• Responsible for following established guidelines, checklists and procedures, ensuring that managed companies remain compliant and internal controls are followed.
• Responsible for enforcing said guidelines, checklists and procedures with managed staff
• Supervise, train, mentor and serve as a resource to Staff Accountants
• Preparation of periodic financial statement packages tailored to individual client needs and completion of self-review
• Preparation of quarterly and annual NAIC statements
• Preparation of written analysis of financial statements
• Planning and coordination of annual audit and actuarial review
• Maintain up to date knowledge of accounting, insurance and regulatory issues affecting captives

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher with a concentration in Accounting or relevant equivalent experience
• CPA or CPA candidate
• 5 – 10 years of general accounting knowledge
• Achievement of Associate in Captive Insurance or similar designation
• Up to date knowledge of GAAP and insurance accounting principles
• Accounting research capability
• 5 years statutory or alternative market insurance account experience
• Advanced proficiency in software (Word, Excel, Outlook and QuickBooks)
