Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a Department Manager to lead the Anthropology, Curriculum in Archaeology, and Research Laboratories of Archaeology. You will translate strategic priorities into practical operations in a decentralized school, partnering with Chairs and central units to ensure smooth service delivery.

You will supervise staff, oversee processes, and align with College-wide standards, reporting to senior College leadership as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience with financial reporting and analysis systems.
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement effective management systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior administrative leader for the department, translating academic priorities into operational execution.
• Coordinate with Department Chairs and central service units (Finance, HR, Sponsored Research, Accounting).
• Supervise department staff and ensure accountability for outcomes in a distributed service environment.
• Maintain process oversight across administrative functions with alignment to College standards.
