Job summary

Stony Brook University’s Honors Programs seeks a Lead Academic Advisor to oversee advising for high-achieving undergraduates. The role includes teaching a student success course, coordinating activities, and building campus partnerships to support retention and graduation.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s in higher education or related field and significant experience in counseling, advising, or student affairs, with strong organizational skills and collaboration abilities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) with 1 year of full-time experience in a post-secondary setting.
• In lieu of a Master's, a Bachelor's and 3 years of full-time experience in a post-secondary setting.
• Experience leading or overseeing a program in a post-secondary setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality advising to undergraduates in the Honors Programs.
• Provide 1:1 and group advising for new students regarding academic planning and course requirements.
• Plan, develop and participate in Honors events and activities to build community and engagement.
• Create program resources, respond to emails, and coordinate social media as needed.
• Stay current with best practices in academic advising and honors education.
