Job summary

Stony Brook University is seeking a Lead Academic Advisor for the Honors Programs within the Division of Undergraduate Education. The role includes individual and group advising, teaching a student success course, and providing program leadership across Honors College, University Scholars, WISE Honors, and Yardi Scholars.

The successful candidate will coordinate activities related to student success, assist with course registration, plan events, and build connections with campus partners.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) and/or Bachelor's with 3+ years in post-secondary setting.
• Experience leading or overseeing a program in a post-secondary setting.
• Preferred: Master's in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality academic advising to undergraduate students in the Honors Programs (individual and group settings).
• Coordinate advising notes, reports, and program resources; respond to emails and social media.
• Plan and participate in Honors events, orientation, and student-related activities; supervise teaching assistants when needed.
• Oversee and lead program elements (e.g., Thesis/Capstone coordination, pre-health advisement, student engagement).
• Represent Honors Programs at admissions events and foster campus/external collaborations to enhance programming.

Master's Degree or higher

Bachelor's Degree + 3 years experience
