Job summary

Horan Hiring Solutions, LLC is seeking a senior Automation Engineer with deep ABB robotics expertise to design, program, and deploy custom automation systems in Waukesha County, WI. You will develop RAPID code, run RobotStudio simulations, and integrate ABB robotics with Rockwell PLCs, while traveling for client sites.

Qualified candidates will have 5+ years ABB programming, 2+ years PLC development, and readiness to travel up to 30% worldwide.

Qualifications

ABB RAPID programming experience (5+ years) including RobotStudio simulations.
2+ years PLC development with ladder logic in Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 or equivalent.
Safety & motion control literacy for industrial settings.

Responsibilities

Write, simulate, and optimize RAPID code and RobotStudio simulations to integrate ABB robots with PLCs and plant automation.
Lead full-lifecycle custom machine projects from design and kinematic simulation to floor build and debugging.
Configure electrical communications, fieldbus protocols (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET), and software handshakes for ABB packages and EOAT.
Troubleshoot integration issues including pathing, cycle-time bottlenecks, and control logic on build floors and in the field.
Lead onsite deployments up to 30% travel for installations, SAT, and customer sign-offs.
Create comprehensive system documentation, operation sequences, and electrical schematic redlines.
