Job summary

Laborup is seeking a Senior 5-Axis CNC Machinist for a precision manufacturing facility serving aerospace, defense, medical device, and other high-precision markets. You will develop new machining processes, launch products, and build repeatable setups that production teams can rely on, using Hermle 5-axis centers, automated probing, and modern inspection tools.

On the weekend shift you’ll help train junior machinists, share knowledge and problem-solving skills, and strengthen the shop for

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience.
• 5-axis setup experience.
• Blueprint reading and GD&T proficiency.
• Tight-tolerance machining experience.
• First-piece inspection experience and strong tooling knowledge.
• Machining troubleshooting experience.

Responsibilities

• New Product Launches: Lead setup and prove-out of new machining projects.
• Machine Setups: Independently complete complex 5-axis setups.
• Workholding: Develop fixturing, tooling, and workholding strategies.
• Process Development: Optimize machining processes for repeatable production.
• Inspection: Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
• Troubleshooting: Resolve machining, tooling, and process issues.
• Automation: Support robotic cells and lights-out manufacturing.
• Production Support: Document and transfer processes to production.
• Continuous Improvement: Improve machining performance and cycle times.
• Mentorship: Support less experienced machinists as needed.
