Job summary

Laborup in Huntsville, Alabama is hiring Senior 5-Axis CNC Machinists to develop new machining processes and launch products for aerospace, defense, medical devices, and other precision sectors.

You will prove out new jobs, refine complex setups, and work closely with engineering and programming using Hermle 5-axis centers, automated probing, and advanced inspection tech. Weekend shift includes training junior machinists and relocation support to Birmingham.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience.
• 5-axis setup experience.
• Blueprint reading and GD&T.
• Tight-tolerance machining experience.
• First-piece inspection experience.
• Strong tooling and workholding knowledge.
• Machining troubleshooting experience.

Responsibilities

• New Product Launches: Lead setup and prove-out of new machining projects.
• Machine Setups: Independently complete complex 5-axis setups.
• Workholding: Develop fixturing, tooling, and workholding strategies.
• Process Development: Optimize machining processes for repeatable production.
• Inspection: Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
• Troubleshooting: Resolve machining, tooling, and process issues.
• Automation: Support robotic cells and lights-out manufacturing.
• Production Support: Document and transfer processes to production.
• Continuous Improvement: Improve machining performance and cycle times.
• Mentorship: Support less experienced machinists as needed.

Overview

We’re hiring Senior 5-Axis CNC Machinists for a precision manufacturing facility supporting aerospace, defense, medical device, and other high-precision industries. This role is focused on developing new machining processes, launching new products, solving difficult machining challenges, and building repeatable systems that production teams can rely on.

You’ll prove out new jobs, refine complex setups, and work closely with engineering and programming using advanced equipment, including Hermle 5-axis machining centers, automated probing, and modern inspection technology.

On the weekend shift, you’ll also help develop and implement a training program for junior machinists. You’ll share the technical knowledge, habits, and problem-solving skills needed to succeed on complex work, helping the next generation launch their careers while strengthening the shop for the long term.
