Job summary

Firefly Aerospace is seeking a senior machinist to set up and operate 5-axis CNCs on complex aerospace components at the Briggs, TX site. You will read blueprints, GD&T, and CAD data, select tooling and cycles, and ensure tight tolerances while handling Inconel and titanium materials.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years of experience, Haas/Siemens/Fanuc controls, and a strong safety mindset. Second shift available with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
• 8+ years CNC machining experience with hands-on 5-axis.
• Mill/Turn experience; DMG Mori/Okuma; VTL experience.
• Ability to set up and operate 5-axis CNC machines independently.
• Strong reading of blueprints and GD&T; tight tolerances +/- .001”.
• Familiarity with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers).
• Experience machining Inconel, aluminum, stainless steel and titanium.
• Basic understanding of G-code and machine controls (Haas, Fanuc).

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 5-axis CNC machines for aerospace components.
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models.
• Machine high-performance materials like Inconel and titanium.
• Choose tooling, speeds/feeds, and cutting strategies.
• Perform in-process inspections with precision tools.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to optimize programs.
• Troubleshoot tool wear, chatter, distortion, and finish defects.
• Maintain documentation and AS9100 quality compliance.
• Support continuous improvement and second shift coverage.
