Role: SEN Teaching Assistant

Contract: Full time

We are looking for a superb 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant looking to advance your experience in Education. If you are, we have a fantastic opportunity for you. As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will be supporting a student with moderate ASD in a 1:1 setting. The child is on a EHCP(Educational Health Care Plan) and you will be adhering to the plan using your fantastic SEN experience.

We welcome your 1:1 support and want you to strive at this flourishing Secondary SEN School whilst collaborating with the classroom teacher and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for the student.

The ideal candidate SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with students with behavioural challenges, preferably in an educational or special education setting.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and de-escalation methods.
  • Ability to establish rapport and build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, particularly with SEMH students.
  • A solid understanding of SEMH and effective behaviour management strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals.
  • A commitment to supporting high-quality education for students with SEMH needs.
