Job summary

Remedy Recruitment Group is seeking dedicated SEN Specialist Tutors to provide one-to-one outreach tuition to secondary-aged students in Bromley from Year 7 through to GCSE.

This role supports learners who may face barriers to education due to SEN, anxiety, or other challenges, delivering tailored programmes to rebuild confidence and academic progress. Most referrals involve 10-15 hours per student per week, mainly during school hours, with home or community settings as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong experience teaching secondary Maths and English.
• Experience working with Year 7 through GCSE.
• Two years' experience with SEN/SEND preferred.
• Understanding of different SEND profiles and strategies.
• Ability to engage anxious or disengaged learners.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Patient, adaptable and empathetic.
• Ability to work independently in outreach settings.
• Strong organisational skills and session planning.
• Enhanced DBS via Update Service or willingness to obtain.
• Passion for helping young people overcome barriers to education.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, one-to-one outreach tuition to secondary learners (Year 7 to GCSE).
• Teach Maths and English confidently across the secondary age range.
• Assess learning needs and identify knowledge gaps.
• Plan and deliver structured, personalised learning programmes.
• Adapt teaching methods to suit SEND profiles and learning styles.
• Support learners toward EHCP targets and curriculum objectives.
• Help students prepare for GCSEs and other exams when appropriate.
• Build positive relationships with learners facing barriers to education.
• Monitor progress and maintain records of engagement and achievement.
• Provide feedback to parents, carers, schools and professionals.
• Collaborate with families and other professionals involved in the learner's education.
