  • Collect, clean, and analyze large manufacturing datasets from equipment and databases.
  • Develop data pipelines and AI models to identify patterns and deviations.
  • Create dashboards and interfaces for engineers to use AI recommendations.
  • Validate model performance with real-world use cases and feedback.
  • Present updates and results to engineering and management teams.

Job Location(s): Newbury Park

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.

We are seeking a Winter/Spring (Jan to Jun 2027) Co-Op to support the semiconductor process engineering team in developing an AI tool the engineers can use on a day to day basis for troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with semiconductor process engineers to understand troubleshooting workflows, failure modes, and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Design, develop, and implement AI/ML-based tools to assist engineers with day-to-day process monitoring, troubleshooting, and defect investigation.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze large manufacturing datasets from process equipment, metrology systems, and production databases.
  • Develop data pipelines and AI models that identify patterns, anomalies, and potential root causes of process deviations.
  • Create intuitive user interfaces and dashboards that enable engineers to interact with AI-generated recommendations and insights.
  • Validate AI model performance through real-world engineering use cases and continuous feedback from process engineers.
  • Present project updates and final results to engineering and management teams.
Required Experience and Skills
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Data Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Available for a full-time Co-Op assignment from January through June.
  • Coursework or project experience involving artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, software development, or semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in Python programming.
  • Understanding of data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of SQL and working with large datasets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to engineering stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
Desired Experience and Skills
  • Exposure to semiconductor manufacturing processes, yield engineering, process engineering, or failure analysis.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), or root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Experience with data visualization platforms such as Power BI.
