Job summary

Coherent is seeking an on-site engineer to advance semiconductor thin-film manufacturing and improve yields, cycle times and costs. You will work across manufacturing and product development to strengthen processes for thin-film tunable filters and support equipment like high-vacuum systems.

The role requires hands-on experience in lithography, etching, deposition, metrology and process documentation, with an emphasis on reliability and cross-functional collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
• At least three years of experience in semiconductor or thin-film device fabrication.
• Practical knowledge of thin-film fabrication processes and equipment.
• Hands-on experience with photolithography.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting high-vacuum equipment.
• Knowledge of equipment failure analysis, repair and component modification.
• Experience using Statistical Process Control.
• Ability to interpret wafer measurement data and resolve process-capability issues.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing and development activities for thin-film tunable filters.
• Work with key fabrication processes, including photolithography, wet and dry etching, thin-film deposition, wafer and chip metrology.
• Develop, optimize and document fabrication processes.
• Analyse wafer measurement data and resolve results that fall outside process capability.
• Identify opportunities to improve wafer and chip yield, quality and reliability.
• Reduce fabrication costs, waste and production cycle times.
• Apply Statistical Process Control to monitor performance and improve process stability.
• Operate, troubleshoot and support the repair of high-vacuum equipment.
