Job summary

NXP Semiconductors in Chandler is seeking a maintenance technician to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on specialized diffusion, furnace, laser scribe, and metrology toolsets in the Chandler Fab. The role requires troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, conducting preventive maintenance, and supporting reliability in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

The candidate should understand SPC, 5S, and FDC systems, and be able to communicate across teams while following

Qualifications

  • Experience in maintaining semiconductor toolsets and related subsystems.
  • Strong understanding of safety and compliance in a cleanroom environment.
  • Ability to follow procedures for preventive maintenance and calibration.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic systems in semiconductor tools.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and consumable changes on listed tools.
  • Operate safely around hazardous chemicals and follow safety protocols.
  • Document work and train others as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external groups while standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Job description

The candidate(s) selected will be responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in Chandler Fab Cleans/Diffusion equipment area. The technician position is responsible for effectively executing tasks that are required to maintain primarily the toolsets within the following tool groups:

  • Diffusion SVG VTR 7000 Furnace
  • TEA Alpha-8 Furnace
  • SVG AVP 8000 Furnace
  • Lumonics WaferMark Laser Scribe
  • TEL α-858 Furnace
  • TEL WAVES Furnace
  • Leak detectors
  • Various supporting metrology equipment
  • EPI experience a plus Cleans Semitool: SST-C-421-280
  • WSST 408A
  • SAT 2080S
  • STORM II
  • RCMS
  • Raider/Millennium (Millennial)
  • TEL/FSI: Mercury MP (2nd generation)

The tasks include, but are not limited to, troubleshooting and repair of electrical and electronic systems, pneumatic and mechanical systems, scheduled maintenance, consumable changes, and various other activities relevant to the success of the area.

The desired candidate should have a solid understanding of SPC, 5s, FDC systems and demonstrate problem‑solving skills.

The position requires the ability to interface with other internal and external groups to ensure all safety, performance, and reliability requirements are satisfied.

The candidate will be required to understand and follow all safety protocols when working around hazardous chemicals.

The desired candidate may be required to complete documentation and train others.

The desired candidate will be required to effectively communicate using written and verbal skills, stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours), and be physically able to perform required tasks which may include stooping, crawling in confined spaces, and lift/carry objects up to 50 pounds.

The position requires working a compressed shift with days shifts available.

Key Challenges:
  • Able to diagnose equipment alarms, read operational data and create action plans as needed.
  • Able to work in a high-volume manufacturing environment and sustain equipment with minimal direction.
  • Able to use root‑cause problem‑solving techniques to solve complex problems on Semiconductor toolsets.

Education: AA, AS, AAS, in electronics or other mechanical discipline is preferred.

Education along with experience or military training may satisfy formal education requirements.
