Job summary

Materion Corporation in Massachusetts is seeking a Director of Marketing & Business Development (EM) to shape market strategy for the semiconductor sector, expand SAM, and accelerate new product development. You will serve as the external ambassador, engaging with customers, OEMs, and industry partners while aligning with Commercial, T&I, Product Management, Operations, and Executive Leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or related fields).
• 10+ years of experience in semiconductor materials, thin‑film deposition, advanced packaging, or adjacent semiconductor technology markets.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives in strategy, business development, key account management, and new product introduction (NPI).
• Strong analytical, communication, and executive‑level presentation skills.
• Demonstrated experience building multi‑level customer relationships and developing market‑driven technology roadmaps.
• Must have US person status.

Responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of semiconductor market dynamics and customer needs.
• Monitor emerging technologies, competition, and industry developments to shape strategy.
• Maintain segment reporting, TAM/SAM definitions, and wallet share analysis.
• Partner with Sales and Product Management to translate customer feedback into market intelligence.
• Represent Materion at industry events and associations to strengthen brand visibility.
• Collaborate with Communications on external presence, press, digital content, and speaking engagements.
• Provide regular executive updates on market conditions and strategic implications.
• Identify, evaluate, and drive new strategic opportunities in electronic materials and applications.
• Lead early‑stage development programs with customer engagement and business case creation.
• Build multi‑level relationships across customer organizations for long‑term partnerships.
• Translate customer/OEM specs into manufacturable products with T&I, Product Management, Operations, and Procurement.
• Support early product qualification stages and oversee application‑specific testing.
• Provide senior technical leadership for product performance and tailoring.
