Job summary

Materion Corporation is seeking a Director of Marketing & Business Development to drive strategic growth in the semiconductor sector. This leadership role shapes market strategy, expands SAM, and accelerates new product development, acting as Materion’s external ambassador with customers, OEMs, and industry bodies.

The role requires building multi-level relationships, guiding cross‑functional teams, and delivering executive‑level market insights to inform growth initiatives and partnerships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or related fields).
• 10+ years of experience in semiconductor materials, thin-film deposition, advanced packaging, or adjacent markets.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in strategy, business development, key account management, and NPI.
• Strong analytical, communication, and executive-level presentation skills.
• Demonstrated experience building multi-level customer relationships and developing market-driven technology roadmaps.
• Must have US person status.

Responsibilities

• Develop market strategy and insights for semiconductor market dynamics and end-market trends.
• Monitor technologies, competitive activity, and industry developments; translate into actionable plans.
• Maintain segment reporting with TAM/SAM definitions and wallet-share analysis.
• Partner with Sales and Product Management to convert feedback into market intelligence.
• Represent Materion at industry events and associations to boost visibility.
• Collaborate with Communications to enhance external presence including press and speaking engagements.
• Provide regular executive updates on market conditions and strategic implications.
• Identify, evaluate, and drive new strategic opportunities in electronic materials and emerging applications.
• Lead early-stage development programs with customer engagement and business case creation.
• Build multi-level relationships across customers; ensure coordinated engagement and partnerships.
• Translate customer specs into manufacturable products with T&I, Product Mgmt, Ops, and Procurement.
• Support early product qualification, guide technical discussions, and oversee testing.
• Provide senior technical leadership for product performance and material tailoring.
• Drive alignment and execution for timely readiness, launch, and scale-up of new products.
