Job summary

GlobalFoundries seeks a skilled Computer and Server Repair Technician for the Fab 8 Electronic Repair Center in Malta, NY. You will diagnose, repair, refurbish, and validate computer hardware, servers, storage, and related infrastructure to keep manufacturing assets available and productive.

The role involves working in a 5x2 schedule with possible shift flexibility, in a cleanroom-like environment, and requires strong collaboration with manufacturing and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Computer Engineering Technology or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in computer hardware repair, server maintenance, electronics repair, IT infrastructure support, or related field.
• Experience with server hardware, storage and networking equipment.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.
• Ability to work in a cleanroom environment per semiconductor protocol.

Responsibilities

• Provide bench-level diagnostics, repair, refurbishment, and validation of computer systems, industrial servers, workstations, storage devices, network hardware, and related electronic assemblies.
• Troubleshoot hardware failures to component, board, and subsystem level (server motherboards, power, memory, processors, storage, interfaces).
• Develop and implement standard work practices for repair, testing, and qualification.
• Develop repair pipelines, documentation, and standard work instructions for computer hardware repair and refurbishment.
• Develop and implement repair standards and training plans for team members.
• Partner with manufacturing and engineering to identify high-impact repair opportunities and drive productivity and cost savings.
• Support fab infrastructure and manufacturing system hardware repairs with high quality and turnaround time.
• Perform hardware imaging, system configuration, firmware updates, and functional validation testing.
