Job summary

RTX in Goleta is seeking a Scientist/Engineer to advance production epitaxial diode processes for infrared sensors. You will contribute to metrology-driven improvements, interface with technicians, and participate in cross-functional engineering projects in a controlled clean-room environment.

The role emphasizes epitaixial growth knowledge, data analysis, and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to meet production goals and schedule urgency.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

As a Scientist or Engineer involved in the production Epitaxially grown diodes you will focus on execution and process improvements of critical materials for Infrared Sensors at Raytheon Vision Systems, a provider of leading-edge sensing technology

We are looking for an individual who must demonstrate a safety-first work routine. A scientist/engineer who supports various projects and initiatives related to production, process engineering, capital installation and facility modifications for cost competitive, diode manufacturing. As part of a multi-functional team, you will be involved in process improvements through critical metrology data analysis, equipment specification & support, tooling and the development of meaningful, trackable process metrics. Developing detailed knowledge of production steps associated with single crystal substrate production as well as fundamental understanding of Epitaxial Growth Processes including related metrology is essential. Examples include: epitaxial growth, materials handling in inert environments, wet processing (clean and etch). Through metrology you will assess process variability utilizing software tools, and apply advanced mathematical methods and statistical analysis, to assure repeatability in production. Our projects and production require work in a controlled, clean-room environment as well as a fundamental understanding of existing equipment such as precision sawing, polishing and chemical treatments. You will work in a team environment that will require detailed communication to direct technicians and to interface with colleagues collaboratively. You will be participating in production meetings in addition to engineering projects. Understanding production goals with associated urgency of schedule is equally important to research and development.

  • Work in controlled areas, cleanrooms, laboratories etc
  • Directly work with semiconductor materials & process chemicals
  • Utilized of common metrology techniques to quantify crystalline growth.
  • Develop fundamental understanding of epitaxial processes
  • Develop equipment, tooling and facility drawings using common CAD software
  • Perform data and failure analysis for process yield improvements
  • Apply advanced mathematical methods for data analysis
  • Apply statistical methods and their relevance for process controlUse common software tools for data manipulation and data extraction such as: Matlab, Minitab, MS Excel, ProE, Ownership automated electronic control systems
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in semiconductor environment.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience in production environment and multi-disciplinary engineering environment
  • Familiar with semiconductor production process.
  • Familiar with mechanical and electronic drawings using CAD software
  • Experience with capital equipment purchases and associated facility installations
  • Basic understanding of bulk Crystal growth & semiconductor diodes
  • Experience in handling fragile materials and delicate hardware.
  • Experience with software tools for data and failure analysis
  • A motivated and self-starting individual who interacts well in a team environment that includes both company colleagues and customers.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
