Job summary

West Central Sanitation is hiring for a full-time truck driver in Minnesota. Shifts begin early with overtime available, and the role includes loading, transporting, and unloading waste materials to disposal or recycling facilities.

You will back up trucks, follow safety procedures, and maintain clear written and verbal communication with the dispatch team. CDL-A is required, and the company covers training, health insurance, PTO, and a 401(k) with match.

STARTING WAGE RANGE: $65,780.00 - $71,500.00 Annually (depending upon experience)

JOB TYPE: Full Time (typically 50 hours per week, overtime hours are regularly available)

SCHEDULE: Shifts begin between 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM, typically Monday through Friday

Shift start & length may vary by route & location

JOB DESCRIPTION

Drivers in this position operate heavy-duty trucks with additional lifting/loading attachments. Using specialized equipment on their truck, they prepare, load and transport walking floor trailers to and from disposal sites, transfer stations, and recycling facilities. Containers will weigh in excess of 1,000 pounds and, at times, may require maneuvering to pick up. They then transport the contents to a disposal, transfer or recycling facility when the container has reached the legal load capacity. Safe driving is crucial when traveling and maneuvering the truck in high traffic / congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots around other vehicles and under highlines. A high level of skill, especially regarding backing maneuvers, is essential to being successful as a semi / tractor-trailer driver.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
• Must successfully complete and pass applicable pre-employment background check, driving record review, physical and drug screening
• Ability to perform the physical requirements and demands of the position
• Must reliably commute to the designated work location, and may relocate before beginning employment

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• 2 years or more of relevant work experience in transportation, driving or logistics is preferred
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered adequate
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License is required; preference will be given to non-restricted CDL drivers

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Ability to operate large, heavy-duty vehicles
• Ability to drive safely and learn new processes
• Ability to work a consistent work schedule, as punctuality is required
• Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing
• Ability to hear at a level sufficient to communicate effectively with others
• Ability to operate a tablet / basic computer skills
• Maintains a strong work ethic with a focus on safety

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS & TRAINING

• Ability to provide or acquire a current Class A Minnesota Commercial Driver’s License, including air brakes, no restrictions
• Ability to provide or obtain a current, valid DOT Health Card (MEC)
• As assigned or apparent
