Are you experienced in groundskeeping and maintenance repair? The Department of Human Services is seeking dedicated, enthusiastic, and dependable Semi-Skilled Laborers to join our facility maintenance team at Torrance State Hospital. In this vital role, you will help ensure the hospital's buildings and grounds are safe, functional, and welcoming, providing a secure and peaceful environment for our patients. In this position, you will assist with the maintenance and care of approximately 373 acres, including lawns, tree groves, roads, parking lots, and right-of-ways. Your duties will involve assisting painters, plumbers, electricians, and carpenters with a range of maintenance and repair tasks throughout the property. You will work with various construction, groundskeeping, and maintenance equipment, applying skills learned on the job. Routine groundskeeping and minor repairs are carried out independently and reviewed upon completion.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time, limited-term employment. Term will last up to 11 months.
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Overtime and travel: As needed
• May change based on operational needs.
• Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Hourly Rate:In some cases, the starting hourly rate may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:

• This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
