Job summary

Darling Ingredients in Union City, TN seeks a Class A Semi Driver to safely operate a commercial vehicle for raw material pickups and plant returns, emphasizing prompt and courteous customer service.

You will tarp loads, perform pre- and post-trip checks, log hours per DOT rules, and complete required paperwork. A valid CDL A with clean MVR and at least six months of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Must have valid CDL Class A with clean MVR.
• Minimum six months commercial driving experience.
• Must be registered on FMCSA Clearinghouse as required.

Responsibilities

• Run established route; pick up raw materials and weigh in/out as needed.
• Ensure loads are tarped before leaving plant or customer location; maintain cleanliness at sites.
• Maintain vehicle; perform safety checks and inspections according to regulations and company policy.
• Complete all required paperwork (route tickets, logs, inspection reports, mileage reports, service forms).
• Maintain DOT hours of service with onboard computer as per policy.
• Provide professional customer relations and appearance; support team goals.
• All other duties as assigned.

Job Description

The Class A Semi Driver is responsible for operation of commercial motor vehicle to pick up raw material with attention to prompt and efficient customer service, then return to our facility.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Run established route; pick up raw materials; weigh in raw material when returning to plant and weigh in and out of customer location as needed.
• Responsible for ensuring loads are tarped before leaving plant or customer location; maintain cleanliness at customer locations.
• Responsible for company vehicle; keeps vehicle in clean condition.
• Conducts all safety checks and inspections of vehicle; operates vehicle under state, federal, local regulations and in accordance with company policy and procedures; observes all company safety rules.
• Maintain excellent customer relations by presenting professional appearance and attitude.
• Responsible for completing all company required paperwork in accordance with company policies (route tickets, driver vehicle inspection reports, mileage reports, service forms, etc).
• Maintain and update vehicle condition report daily.
• Maintain DOT hours of service with onboard computer in accordance with company policy.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must be current CDL Class A holder with clean MVR.
• Six months experience required.
• Must be registered on https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/

Preferred Qualifications

• Works well with others in a team environment.
• Dependable; reliable
• Knowledge of safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle and general maintenance.

Physical Demands

• Constantly required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Frequently required to reach up with both arms in securing tarps, etc.
