Job summary

Darling Ingredients is hiring a Class A Semi Driver to operate a commercial motor vehicle, pick up raw materials on an established route, and return to our facility. You will tarp loads, maintain the vehicle, and perform required safety inspections.

The role requires a 21+ driver with a clean MVR and active FMCSA Clearinghouse registration. Strong customer relations and paperwork accuracy are essential for daily operations.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Current CDL Class A holder with clean MVR.
• Six months experience required.
• Must be registered on https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/

Responsibilities

• Run established route; pick up raw materials; weigh in/out at plant and customer locations as needed.
• Tarp loads before leaving plant or customer location; maintain cleanliness at customer locations.
• Maintain company vehicle and keep it in clean condition; perform safety checks and inspections.
• Operate vehicle in compliance with state, federal, local regulations and company policy; observe safety rules.
• Maintain professional appearance and excellent customer relations.
• Complete all required paperwork (route tickets, inspection reports, mileage reports, service forms).
• Maintain and update vehicle condition reports daily; adhere to DOT hours of service with onboard computer.

Job Description

This position is responsible for The Class A Semi Driver is responsible for operation of commercial motor vehicle to pick up raw material with attention to prompt and efficient customer service, then return to our facility.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Run established route; pick up raw materials; weigh in raw material when returning to plant and weigh in and out of customer location as needed.


• Responsible for ensuring loads are tarped before leaving plant or customer location; maintain cleanliness at customer locations.


• Responsible for company vehicle; keeps vehicle in clean condition.


• Conducts all safety checks and inspections of vehicle; operates vehicle under state, federal, local regulations and in accordance with company policy and procedures; observes all company safety rules.


• Maintain excellent customer relations by presenting professional appearance and attitude.


• Responsible for completing all company required paperwork in accordance with company policies (route tickets, driver vehicle inspection reports, mileage reports, service forms, etc).


• Maintain and update vehicle condition report daily.


• Maintain DOT hours of service with onboard computer in accordance with company policy.


• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Frequently exposed to high noise levels, strong odors, varying temperatures, and biohazardous conditions.


• Requires prolonged sitting and movement throughout office/work locations, as well as occasional use of computers and office equipment.


• Must occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb or balance.


• Must be able to communicate effectively and identify potential workplace hazards.
