Job summary

Housing Authority of the City of Aurora seeks an experienced Opportunity & Self-Sufficiency Case Manager to implement and operate a self-sufficiency program across AHA properties. You will manage 25–30 subsidized families, identify goals, increase earned income, and promote asset-building and long-term self-sufficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required and relevant field.
• 2–4 years of experience delivering goal-oriented case management, financial coaching, or resident services.
• Proficiency in Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed communication, person-centered goal setting, and maintaining professional boundaries.
• Experience developing partnerships, coordinating workshops, and advising resident groups or community councils.
• Experience using client databases (Resident Connect) to document case notes, track attendance, and report on outcomes; proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of 25-30 families receiving rental subsidies with high-touch, individualized support.
• Understand program eligibility guidelines and conduct screenings to maintain active caseloads.
• Meet with participants in person, including home visits and on-site meetings to reduce barriers.
• Partner with families to apply strengths-based problem-solving strategies.
• Utilize Motivational Interviewing to empower families toward self-identified goals.
• Implement internal program policies, expectations, and milestone tracking from intake through graduation.
• Maintain participant records in Resident Connect and document referrals and progression toward goals.
• Cultivate partnerships with local financial institutions and housing/workforce resources for site-based financial wellness.
• Provide leadership and support for Resident Councils and coordinate with ECHO staff for programming.
• Collaborate with residents, AHA staff, and community colleagues to support broad engagement.
