Job summary

Blanchard Valley Health System is seeking a PFS Self-Pay Biller to serve as the primary contact for patient billing inquiries and to help resolve accounts post-care. The role requires knowledge of billing practices, payer regulations, and strong customer service.

Responsibilities include handling inbound calls, verifying insurance, negotiating payment plans, and documenting all account activity while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Position may involve remote or onsite duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; CPFS certification to be completed within 12 months of hire date
• 2-3 years in medical billing/collections or equivalent internal assessment
• Knowledge of payer regulations and billing policies
• Excellent written and verbal communication with positive interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing procedures and statements; handle inbound calls; document all account activity
• Follow scripts to resolve accounts; prepare and review billing correspondence; assist in person
• Verify insurance to ensure accurate billing and patient balances
• Collect payments over the counter, by phone, and by mail; record all transactions
• Explain EOBs and payer policies to patients clearly
• Perform cashier duties as needed at the Findlay campus; provide reporting
• Maintain productivity and complete tasks per team standards
• Commit to HIPAA privacy, security, and regulations; pursue ongoing education
• Attend staff meetings and training; support compliance and improvements
• Possess current knowledge of federal/state regulations and third-party requirements
