Job summary

Kent ISD is seeking a Behavior Coach to lead social-emotional learning initiatives across Center Programs. You will coach staff, support MTSS implementation, and help align services with district and county goals.

The role requires a Master’s in Special Education (or related field), a Michigan Special Education certification, and BCBA is preferred. Strong collaboration, data analysis, and communication skills are essential. 200-day year with full-time hours.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan professional certification in an area related to Special Education.
• Master’s degree in Special Education or related field; BCBA certification preferred.
• Three years of successful experience in education including behavioral services.
• Experience developing training and support programs for mental health/social-emotional needs.
• Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of special education laws and compliance responsibilities.
• Commitment to equity, social justice and inclusion.
• Experience with FBA and PBSPs; fidelity of implementation.
• Trained in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.

Responsibilities

• Build a shared vision of social-emotional learning through MTSS with staff and community.
• Support student programs aligning to county, district, and building goals.
• Assist LEAs with evidence-based curriculum and program development.
• Establish school processes for regular monitoring of student progress and interventions.
• Consult with LEAs on MTSS implementation for social-emotional growth.
• Develop Positive Behavior Support Plans to boost student growth.
• Provide PD and coaching for staff working with behavioral challenges.
• Develop and implement coaching models for LEAs and Center Programs.
• Learn and apply emerging technologies for professional learning.
• Attend IEPs to facilitate processes.
• Assist LEA staff with Least Restrictive Environment decisions.
• Coordinate referrals and service requests with staff.
• Attend board meetings and county-wide meetings as assigned.
• Represent Kent ISD at state/regional meetings.
• Ensure compliance with IDEA, MARSE and district policies.
• Solicit and support grants (START, etc.).
• Perform other duties as directed.
