Job summary

Northwest Regional Education Service District is hiring an Instructional Assistant for Meadowlark Academy in St. Helens. The role supports IEP/IFSP goals, assists licensed staff, and helps with small group instruction.

Salary per the Classified Salary Schedule; DC-based hourly range and DOE; 0.9375 FTE equals 37.5 hours per week. Strong safety and communication skills are essential; bilingual preferred. Apply by the priority date.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift students from a wheelchair to the floor and back, and on/off a changing table.
• Child Care Central Background Registry Clearance required for all Early Learning positions.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Spanish language ability preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instructional materials under the direction of a licensed teacher.
• Provide instruction under the direction of a licensed teacher.
• Assist the teacher in working with students to complete assignments.
• Assist the teacher in grading and recording students’ assignments.
• Take and maintain data as required by the licensed teacher.
• Assist students with restroom needs as advised.
• Maintain student safety and monitor behavior in various settings.
• Note discipline issues and complete accurate paperwork for reporting.
• Participate in restraint training as required.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
• Collaborate and communicate with staff at all levels.
