Job summary

Autoliv in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a Segment Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to drive supplier quality for new product launches, manage APQP and PPAP, and coordinate with engineering, purchasing and supplier teams. You will conduct supplier audits, drive 8D problem solving, monitor performance, and travel to supplier sites as needed to ensure quality and on-time launches.

  • Experience in automotive supplier quality and program launches.
  • Deployment/auditing of APQP, PPAP, 8D, FMEA, SPC, VDA.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 / VDA and ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Experience in managing projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier quality activities for new product development and launch programs.
  • Manage APQP and PPAP processes to ensure supplier readiness and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, and suppliers on feasibility, quality planning, and approvals.
  • Monitor supplier performance, milestones, and quality deliverables to meet launch timing.
  • Conduct supplier audits, production trials, Run-at-Rate events, and process assessments.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D methodology.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and supplier requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement and supplier development initiatives.
  • Act as primary quality contact for suppliers throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Travel to supplier locations as needed to support projects.

Job description

Segment Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is a key role at Autoliv and is responsible for working with external suppliers to develop robust processes and deliver high quality parts. Serial SQE is involved from the pre-qualification of the supplier through the successful launch of components. Activities include verification of suppliers' use of industry standards, Autoliv Standards, review of suppliers agreed to production lines/practices, and follow-up on non-conforming materials and events to closure. The Serial SQE will work with internal teams such as Project Launch, Purchasing, Engineering and other Quality teams to plan quality events and resolve issues. Manage PPAP/PSW approvals for external suppliers.

In this role you will be responsible for

What Is Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
  • Automotive industry and/or engineering experience.
  • Experience in deployment and/or auditing of APQP, PPAP, 8D, FMEA, SPC, VDA
  • Knowledgeable in IATF 16949 / VDA and ISO 14001 requirements
  • Experience in managing projects
  • Excels at oral and written communication skills
