Job description

The Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System (OCVAHCS) is actively recruiting a board-certified, board-eligible full-time permanent hospital-employed Rheumatology physician to join our Section of Rheumatology, Immunology, and Allergy.

The Rheumatology Physician reports to the Chief of Rheumatology, Immunology, and Allergy. We seek a highly qualified, fellowship-trained rheumatologist to manage complex cases, including conditions such as OA, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, gout, vasculitis, and more. Responsibilities include:

  1. Conducting patient histories and physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests (X-rays, MRIs, DEXA scans).
  2. Ordering and interpreting laboratory evaluations (rheumatoid factor, ANA, HLA-B27, uric acid, inflammation markers, etc.).
  3. Prescribing and monitoring complex medications, including DMARDs and biologics.
  4. Coordinating infusion therapies and managing medication titration.
  5. Performing intra-articular joint injections, obtaining consent, and documenting procedures.
  6. Managing referrals to physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other services.
  7. Collaborating with primary care clinics in Muskogee and Fayetteville for ongoing patient management.
  8. Monitoring labs and ensuring patient safety on rheumatologic medications.
  9. Screening for osteoporosis and promoting bone health.
  10. Optimizing clinic flow, patient access, and supporting fellows.
  11. Providing patient education and follow-up planning to ensure continuity of care.

The OCVAHCS is located in Oklahoma City, serving over 70,000 veterans across Oklahoma and North Central Texas. Join an expanding department dedicated to veteran care!

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 08:00-16:30.

Qualifications: U.S. medical license, board certification or eligibility in Rheumatology, with Internal Medicine certification preferred. U.S. Citizens preferred; non-citizens considered.

Compensation & Benefits: Starting at $250,000-$320,000 annually, with incentives, bonuses, federal retirement, education debt repayment, malpractice coverage, paid time off, insurance, licensure, CME reimbursement, and flexible contracts.
