Job description

The Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System (OCVAHCS) is actively recruiting a board-certified, or board-eligible, full-time, permanent hospital-employed Allergy and Immunology physician to join our Section of Rheumatology, Immunology, and Allergy.

Position Overview

The Allergy and Immunology Physician reports to the Chief of Rheumatology, Immunology, and Allergy. We seek a highly qualified, fellowship-trained allergist who participates in outpatient and occasional inpatient care. Responsibilities include practicing within scope of privileges, attending outpatient clinics, performing allergy testing and interpretation, documenting patient histories and physical exams, and ordering and following up on diagnostic and therapeutic tests. The physician will incorporate patient requests and needs into allergy management, attend staff meetings, communicate effectively within the team, and assist in preparing reports related to patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Clinical Management: Maintain encounter and consult documentation, monitor clinic productivity, and participate in quality and safety initiatives.
  2. Patient Care: Provide compassionate, appropriate, and effective care for health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, and end-of-life care.
  3. Medical Knowledge: Demonstrate knowledge of biomedical, clinical, and social sciences and apply this to patient care and education.
  4. Clinical Judgment: Use scientific evidence and methods to evaluate and improve patient care.
  5. Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and team members.
  6. Professionalism: Uphold ethical practices, commit to continuous professional development, and show cultural sensitivity.
  7. Systems-Based Practice: Understand healthcare systems and utilize this knowledge to improve care quality.
  8. Research: If involved in research, demonstrate ability to identify problems, plan, execute, and publish findings.
Location and Community

Located in Oklahoma City, OK, the OCVAHCS is a Joint Commission-accredited, medium-complexity facility serving over 70,000 veterans across Oklahoma and North Central Texas. Join a growing department dedicated to serving veteran health needs.

Work Schedule and Requirements

Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. U.S. Citizens preferred; non-citizens may be considered. Must hold an unrestricted medical license in the U.S. and be board-certified or eligible in Allergy, with preferred additional certification in Internal Medicine.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary: $260,000 - $300,000 annually. Incentives include recruitment and relocation bonuses, potential annual performance bonus up to $15,000, comprehensive federal retirement, education debt repayment options, malpractice coverage, paid time off, federal health insurance, and more.
