Job summary

Syngenta Vegetables and Flowers is offering a Vegetable Seed Production Research Intern position in Caldwell, ID, through its Emerging Talent Program. You will gain hands‑on experience in seed parent characterization, trial design, field activities, data analysis, and cross‑functional collaboration.

You will help lead a Seed Parent Characterization project, support early breeding trait assessments, and work with part‑time workers while developing professional skills in a dynamic agricultural

Qualifications

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Biology, Ag Business, or another closely related field of study.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • All applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Communication: Strong written and spoken communication desired.
  • Detail‑Oriented: Follow procedures precisely.
  • Autonomous: Self‑driven and able to work with limited supervision.
  • Previous internship and/or co‑op in agriculture is preferred but not required.
  • Willing to work in sweetcorn, pea, and bean plots and in areas with beehives for pollination.

Responsibilities

  • Expose intern to Seed Parent Characterization activities from trial design to data analysis.
  • Lead one Seed Parent Characterization project and understand plant development in sweetcorn and beans.
  • Support product advancements by assessing key traits for seed production.
  • Lead field activities: planting, plot maintenance, harvest, and data collection throughout the season.
  • Assist with agronomic trials at the home site and other activities.
  • Communicate with project managers and colleagues across breeding to production.
  • Assist in managing and developing part‑time workers.
  • Analyze data and prepare a research report and presentation.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent
Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Agronomy/Biology/Ag Business or related field
