Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Scientist or Geologist for challenging projects in the environmental field. Role involves independent work and leading engineers/scientists on sediment remediation efforts for Federal and Public sector clients.

Preferred candidates have strong CERCLA/GLLA regulatory knowledge and can act as a technical liaison with clients and outside partners, guiding complex technical designs to completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 7+ years related experience; travel may be required.
• Experience leading teams of engineers/scientists on sediment remediation projects.
• Willingness to travel domestically/internationally; ability to interact with clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise evaluating sediment remediation technologies and designs for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, or port sites.
• Understand principles of sediment transport, site assessment, sampling/monitoring, cap modeling, dredge approaches, and remedial design/construction.
• Support mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Serve as task manager on complex sediment sites; communicate technical strategy to client and SMEs.
• Exhibit in-depth CERCLA/GLLA/regulatory knowledge at contaminated sediment sites.
• Act as liaison with clients/public/outside consultants; present complex evaluations to non-experts.
• Lead staff in preparing/reviewing technical information ensuring regulatory compliance.
