Hana Enterprises is seeking Part-time Security Watch Standers aboard the NOAA Ship Oscar Elton Sette at JBPHH. Duties include security rounds, visitor screening, and reporting; you will guard personnel, assets, and information on board and respond to incidents.

Requirements include US citizenship, 21+, HS diploma, English fluency, and the ability to navigate ladders and tight spaces. Candidates must meet clearance expectations and work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be a US citizen and at least 21 years of age.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Able to climb ladders, crawl in small spaces and move about the ship safely.
• Clean background with no arrests or criminal activity.
• Favorable NACI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide hourly security rounds inspecting ship spaces (excluding staterooms).
• Notify the designated officer or XO/CO of unusual events.
• Log rounds and events in the vessel's security log.
• Ensure only authorized persons board and log arrivals/departures of visitors.
• Secure piers and gates and respond to security incidents.
• Sound the general alarm and operate PA system in emergencies.
• Remain on the bridge when not conducting rounds and stay vigilant.
• Answer ship phones; carry a company-issued cell phone when off-bridge.
• Perform morning and evening colors as directed.
• Be properly relieved before leaving watch.

Hourly Rate - $24.39

Health and Welfare Rate - $4.93

Position Overview

As a Security Watch Stander, you will play a critical role in safeguarding federal vessels and ensuring the safety and security of personnel, assets, and information on board. Operating as the first line of defense, you will monitor, patrol, and respond to security threats and incidents, thereby contributing to the overall security posture of the vessel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• The security watch standers shall provide hourly security rounds, inspecting all spaces of the ship (excluding staterooms)
• The security watch standers are required to contact the designated OOD, duty engineer or XO/CO if any unusual events occur
• The watch stander conducting security rounds shall log all rounds and any unusual events in the vessel's security watch log
• Ensures only authorized persons are allowed on ship and logs arrival and departure of any approved visitors
• Ensures the piers and gates are secure
• In the case of an emergency, the security watch stander will be able to sound the ship's general alarm and operate the Public Announcement system
• When not making rounds, the security watch stander will be present on the bridge and be alert to their surroundings
• The security watch stander shall be required to answer the ship's phone and will do so in a polite and professional manner. They will also be required to carry a phone when not on the bridge, to maintain communications (personal/company issued cell phone, etc).
• The security watch stander will perform morning and evening colors as directed by the ship
• Security watch standers will present themselves for their watch in sufficient time to be briefed on any changes to the routine or special instructions from the off going watch. Approximately 10 minutes may be required to exchange the watch and transfer information
• Security watch standers will not depart the ship without being properly relieved following their watch.

Working Conditions

• This position involves working rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to provide 24/7 security coverage on the vessel
• The role requires working in various weather conditions and environments, both indoors and outdoors, on board a vessel at sea
• The security sentry must adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries while on duty
• Good general health and physical fitness including ability to climb ladders, negotiate narrow passageways, and transit other areas of the ship as required for security rounds

Requirements

• Must be a US citizen and at least 21 years of age
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Must be able to climb up and down narrow stairs and ladders, crawl in small spaces, stand, walk, bend, crouch
• Clean background, history free of arrests or other criminal activity
• Favorable NACI clearance.
