Job summary

GEO Corrections & Detentions is seeking a Security Threat Group Investigator to support investigations and intelligence gathering on gangs within a correctional facility. The role involves coordinating responses, monitoring communications, and providing input to facility management as required.

Required are a high school diploma and at least 3 years of security experience in corrections; state/federal certification may be needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• Three (3) years' experience working in the security function in a correctional setting required.
• Certification as a correctional officer may be required depending on state or federal requirements.
• College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences or related field preferred.
• Working knowledge of correctional program objectives, laws, and facility security requirements.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Collects intelligence and information on suspected security threat groups at the facility.
• Identifies and tracks gang or security threat group activities and reports findings.
• Monitors detainee telephone calls in accordance with agency policies.
• Contributes to policy development for custody, security, and treatment relating to investigations and gang activity.
• Responds to major incidents as trained and prepares records and reports as required.
• Performs other investigations and related duties as assigned.
