Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Operations Engineer to support offshore oil and gas facilities. The role combines production optimization, troubleshooting, and reliability for maximum uptime. You will work with Operations, Production Engineering, Process Engineering, and Facilities teams to monitor systems and implement improvements.

This position follows a 14 days on / 14 days off offshore rotation. You will troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues, support debottlenecking initiatives, and ensure

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Petroleum engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years in oil and gas industry.
  • Experience supporting offshore production operations preferred.

About the Role

We are seeking an Operations Engineer to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of offshore oil and gas production facilities. This role combines production optimization, process troubleshooting, equipment reliability, and operational support to help maximize uptime and improve facility performance.

Working closely with Operations, Production Engineering, Process Engineering, and Facilities teams, you will play a key role in monitoring production systems, troubleshooting equipment issues, supporting offshore projects, and identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency.

This position follows a 14 days on / 14 days off offshore rotation schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the safe and efficient operation of production, utility, and safety systems.
  • Monitor facility performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and production.
  • Troubleshoot process, mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
  • Partner with operations personnel, planners, and maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct production and process surveillance for oil, gas, and water treatment systems.
  • Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and process interruptions.
  • Support production optimization and debottlenecking initiatives to increase throughput.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.
  • Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Permit to Work (PTW), and Control of Work processes.
  • Assist with facility modifications, equipment upgrades, commissioning activities, and startup efforts.
  • Support chemical treatment programs through performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with export and disposal specifications.
  • Assist with subsea operations, integrity activities, troubleshooting, and well tie-in projects.
  • Review and develop equipment isolation plans.
  • Participate in facility risk assessments and hazard reviews.
  • Provide technical support during operational upsets and emergency situations.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Experience supporting production operations and facility performance.
  • Process engineering experience in upstream or downstream operations is strongly preferred.
  • Offshore Gulf of America/Gulf of Mexico experience is preferred.
Technical Knowledge
  • Understanding of oil and gas production and processing systems.
  • Experience working with separation, compression, pumping, and process control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and equipment documentation.
  • Familiarity with flow assurance, production chemistry, and water treatment processes.
  • Knowledge of pressure relief systems, heat exchangers, control valves, and production equipment.
  • Experience conducting root cause investigations and developing corrective actions.
  • Basic understanding of project planning, cost evaluation, and economic analysis.
