Job description

Job Summary:

The Security Technician will be responsible for the physical support of the corporate security systems as well as the integration of security technology across the business. The Security Technician will primarily work at various local sites and will handle ongoing maintenance and new installations of security systems. Responsibilities also include supporting other departments, security investigations, emergency response, project coordination, audits, and troubleshooting physical and technological issues.

As a Security Technician, you will:
  1. Maintain and troubleshoot access systems, alarms, and surveillance systems, including managing security-related installation projects. Ability to read schematics and diagnose issues with structured and low voltage cabling.
  2. Conduct security risk assessments through site visits and report deficiencies.
  3. Participate in investigations and prepare reports on incidents, internal investigations, losses, and security policy violations.
  4. Support Security Coordinator with staffing and contracted security needs.
  5. Conduct, document, and report security audits for buildings, perimeters, and departments.
  6. Track and report security metrics regularly.
  7. Update the Security Coordinator on work status.
Minimum qualifications:
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of security-related experience (corporate, military, law enforcement).
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record and reliable transportation; pass pre-employment background check.
  • Professional communication skills in writing and speaking.
  • Comfortable with public speaking, presentations, and training.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office; ability to learn new security software.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time, and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
Preferred additional skills:
  • 2+ years in corporate security hardware maintenance and installation.
  • Training in security risk management, emergency procedures, cyber security, conflict resolution, and related fields.
  • Familiarity with organizations like DHS, CISA, FEMA, ASIS.
  • Experience with Avigilon, AMAG, PeopleSoft.
  • Ability to read site plans and blueprints.
  • Basic project management skills.
