Qualifications

5+ years installing electronic security systems (commercial) with emphasis on access control and cameras.
TOPS Access Control license required.
Current Texas Electronic Access Control Device Installer License required.
Experience with access control systems using Mercury boards.
Experience with CCTV/video surveillance systems.
Strong knowledge of structured cabling and low-voltage installation.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and wiring diagrams.
Clean driving record; able to pass MVR.

Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Security Technician for a leading electrical solutions client. This candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of enterprise-level electronic security systems across commercial and institutional environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, and structured cabling systems, along with the ability to interpret construction drawings and deliver high-quality installations. This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced security technologies, collaborate with experienced project teams, and support large-scale security infrastructure projects throughout the Austin area. Examples of day to day troubleshooting - Ex: HEB client, HEB handles the programming sisde but need to know what the HEB side is doing so they can assist them to get up and running EX: troubleshoot a keypad and card reader thats not working - how they do it? 1 guy in the field, 1 guy to remote into the system

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

5+ years of experience installing electronic security systems - commercial experience (mostly access / cameras)
TOPS - Access Control license
Current Texas Electronic Access Control Device Installer License
Experience with access control systems - Mercury boards
Experience with CCTV/video surveillance systems
Strong knowledge of structured cabling and low-voltage installation practices
Volt Meter Manufacturer standards
Experience installing, terminating, and testing Cat6/Cat6A (used primarily for camera's and tying into the network), composite cable (access controls) cabling
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and wiring diagrams
Clean driving record, able to pass MVR
