Job summary

Techwise Integrated Security in Petersburg, VA is seeking dependable individuals to join our night-shift team installing commercial security systems. No prior low-voltage experience is required, but you will learn on active job sites alongside experienced technicians.

You will work on CCTV, access control, burglar and fire alarm systems, and structured cabling, with travel to out-of-town projects and per diem where applicable. This is a growth-focused role.

Qualifications

• No previous low-voltage experience required
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to work 8:30 PM-6:30 AM night shifts
• Ability to travel and stay out of town for multiple nights during the workweek starting on Sunday or Monday night
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work from ladders and scissor lifts
• Ability to perform overhead and physical work throughout the shift
• Ability to pass required background checks
• Willingness to obtain required Virginia DCJS registration if not already registered
• Willing to share a hotel room with another technician

Responsibilities

• Work with Lead Technicians and other crew members on commercial installation projects
• Pull and route low-voltage cable
• Install cable supports, pathway hardware, and related materials
• Assist with mounting cameras, keypads, alarm devices, and other equipment
• Assist with installing and wiring security and life-safety devices
• Use ladders and scissor lifts to perform overhead work
• Use drills, hand tools, fish tape, glow rods, and other installation tools
• Label and organize cabling and equipment
• Learn how to terminate and test low-voltage cabling
• Learn how to read floor plans, drawings, and installation documentation
• Help keep tools, materials, and job sites organized
• Follow direction from Lead Technicians and Project Managers
• Assist with troubleshooting and testing installed systems
• Develop the skills needed to eventually work more independently

Important Schedule & Travel Requirements

This is a night-shift position.

The typical work schedule is four 10-hour shifts per week, approximately 8:30 PM-6:30 AM starting on either Sunday or Monday night.

This position also requires regular overnight travel. Some projects may be located 3-4 hours away from our Petersburg office, and technicians should expect to stay out of town during the four-day workweek when required.

Travel time is paid, and per diem is provided for qualifying out-of-town work.

Applicants should only apply if they are comfortable working nights and regularly staying out of town during the workweek.

About the Position

Techwise Integrated Security is looking for dependable individuals interested in starting or growing a career in commercial security systems installation.

Previous low-voltage or security-system experience is not required.

You will work alongside experienced technicians installing systems such as:

• CCTV and video surveillance

• Access control

• Burglar and intrusion alarm systems

• Fire alarm systems

• Structured cabling and related low-voltage systems

This is a hands-on field position. You will learn the trade by working directly with experienced technicians on active commercial job sites.

This is a security systems installation position, not a traditional electrician position.
