Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is hiring a Commercial Installer to work on site with commercial customers, setting up and programming Integrated Security fire and security systems. The role includes dismantling and reconstructing equipment when necessary and coordinating with emergency services.

You will verify schedules, prepare estimates, follow wiring diagrams, test systems, read blueprints, and mentor junior installers. A valid license, technical training, and strong customer service are required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain and retain licenses per local codes.
  • Some technical school training is a plus.
  • Experience reading blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specs and schematics.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to operate a fleet vehicle safely.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Install and program Integrated Security fire and security systems on site.
  • Dismantle and reconstruct equipment as required.
  • Verify schedules with customers prior to installation.
  • Prepare estimates following supervisor instructions.
  • Follow wiring diagrams and hookup procedures.
  • Test system operation and relay signals to the monitoring center.
  • Read building/electrical/sprinkler blueprints as needed.
  • Coordinate with police/fire departments and manage records for emergency notifications.
  • Lead installation teams on larger projects when needed.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced installers.

What you will do:

As a critical part of the team, the Commercial Installer works onsite with our commercial customers to set up and program their Integrated Security fire and security systems. The Commercial Installer also dismantles and reconstructs equipment when necessary.

How you will do it:
  • Install appropriate devices; dismantle and reassemble equipment as required for Johnson Controls Security Solutions.

  • Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris.

  • Contacts customers prior to the date of scheduled installation to verify schedule.

  • Prepares estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions of supervisor.

  • Follow proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures.

  • Tests operation of system to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.

  • Reads building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints as required.

  • Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles necessary records for notification of emergency calls.

  • May manage installation teams on larger projects.

  • Coach and mentor less experienced installers.

What we look for
Required:
  • Able to obtain and obtain and retain any licenses that are required by National, State and Local codes.

  • Some technical school training is a plus.

  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and operational/product manuals.

  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.

  • Ability to operate fleet vehicle in a safe manner at all times.

  • Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.

Preferred:
  • 3-5 years of electrical and electronic equipment experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $21.92 - $30.14 Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
