Job summary

Grey Matter Technologies is seeking a Security Systems Technician to install, service, and troubleshoot electronic security systems including access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection. The role requires hands-on field experience and the ability to coordinate with customers and subcontractors.

You will travel regionally in the Northeast from New Jersey to Southern Maine, work independently on service calls and small projects, and mentor junior technicians as opportunities arise.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in electronic security or related tech.

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Install and service access control, CCTV, and intrusion systems.

• Complete system testing and commissioning activities.

Position Summary

The Security Systems Technician will assist with the installation, service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronic security systems including access control, CCTV, intrusion, and related low-voltage technologies. The ideal candidate has several years of hands-on field experience, can work independently when required, and is comfortable coordinating with customers, subcontractors, and other trades to keep projects moving forward.

• Experience with access control, video surveillance, intrusion systems, or structured cabling.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and customer service abilities.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift equipment, use ladders, and work in commercial environments.

Preferred

• Experience with security platforms such as Brivo, Avigilon, Openpath, Lenel, Genetec, or similar systems.
• Experience coordinating work with subcontractors and other trades.
• Basic networking knowledge.
• Industry certifications are a plus.

Travel Requirements

Grey Matter Technologies serves clients throughout the Northeast, from New Jersey to Southern Maine.

Candidates must be comfortable with:

• Regular day travel throughout the region.
• Occasional overnight travel when project requirements warrant.
• Working at customer locations across multiple states.
