Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a software professional to develop and maintain applications, APIs, and automation tools for our physical security platforms in Chicago, IL. You will customize access control and video management systems (Genetec, Software House) and build interfaces to enterprise apps, enhancing IAM, HRIS, ITSM integrations.

The role emphasizes secure coding, collaboration with Security, IT, Networking, and Cybersecurity teams, plus vendor coordination to deploy system

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or equivalent CS degree with 2 years of programming experience; or Associate's with 4 years; or high school with 6 years.
• Experience with access control, video management systems, and related security tools.
• Proficiency in programming and scripting languages.
• Experience with APIs, SDKs, and integration frameworks.
• Hands-on work with enterprise access control or video management systems.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues, users, contractors, and vendors.
• Ability to lead projects, deconstruct tasks, and drive sprints.
• Familiarity with Genetec and Software House CCure on-the-job (within 6 months).
• Genetec and Software House certifications within six months.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain applications, APIs, scripts, and automation tools for security platforms.
• Customize access control and video management systems (Genetec, Software House).
• Build interfaces between security systems and enterprise applications.
• Design workflows and connectors for identity lifecycle automation.
• Develop data exchange pipelines between physical and logical security systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software and configuration issues.
• Maintain documentation and version control.
• Perform system health checks, patching, and upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, privacy, and security standards.
• Follow secure coding practices and participate in code reviews.
• Support auditing, reporting, and access control governance.
• Collaborate with Physical Security, IT, Networking, and Cybersecurity teams.
• Partner with vendors/integrators for enhancements and deployments.
• Provide technical guidance on system design/architecture.
• Optimize system maps linking devices (cameras, readers, I/O).
• Basic locking hardware knowledge.
• Read construction drawings and line diagrams.
