Job summary

Target is seeking a Security Specialist to protect guests, team members and brand while maintaining store safety and standards. You will respond to incidents, use de-escalation tactics, and support loss prevention efforts across the sales floor and back-of-store.

The role emphasizes teamwork, flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays, and the ability to operate surveillance and case-management tools to document events and help keep our stores secure.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet state/local licensure or legal requirements for the position.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate scanners and other equipment as directed.
• Effective communication skills; work independently and with a team.
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks; stay focused in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests at the front of store.
• Promote a physical security culture and maintain safe standards store-wide.
• Respond to and document security incidents in a timely manner.
• Appropriately respond to guest issues to provide a safe environment.
• Use de-escalation tactics across the store during incidents.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and support theft apprehension per AP policies.
• Prevent theft by performing merchandise receipt checks and identifying trends.
• Submit documentation in the case management system following AP policy.
• Understand and use Target's video surveillance system.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; follow safety policies.
