Job summary

Target is hiring a Security Specialist in California. You will help keep guests, team members, and the brand safe by applying intelligence-led approaches, crisis response, crowd management, and de-escalation.

The role includes documenting incidents, preventing theft, merchandise checks, and supporting store operations while maintaining a friendly guest experience. Must be 18+, have a HS diploma, and be able to work flexible shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work both independently and with a team.
• Capable of remaining focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.

• Greet guests and assist them in finding what they need and resolving issues for a smooth shopping experience.
• End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you.
• Actively support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Promote a physical security culture and maintain safe, secure standards storewide.
• Respond to and accurately document security incidents in a timely manner.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide theft apprehension support as needed.
• Prevent theft and shortage at the front of store by performing checks and communicating trends.
• Submit documentation in the case management system following AP policy.
• Understand and use Target's video surveillance system.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
